Middle Distance Runner

It is my obligation here to declare, in all honesty and candour, that Middle Distance Runner's Naturally is a really good song. (Download them here legally.)

They're an obscure band hailing from Washington DC that plays Brit indie pop. I know it sounds pretty funny, but they do sound more like The Feeling and Aqualung than they do with Washington DC's Fugazi.

Never really took notice of this song - it had been sitting on my hard disk for quite a while - until I listened to it on my iPod on random, and somehow, those 4 musical minutes were simply magical. I'm hooked.

Middle Distance Runner's songs aren't elaborate acts -they're your typical homely soft melodic crooning - but they do it well. And with 1-sentence-choruses like ' Cause loving her's not something that I find comes to me naturally but sometimes loving her's all I can do to keep myself together through the week', who can possibly not take notice?

Sadly, they're not very popular. No charted singles, no Wikipedia page. And therefore, it is my obligation here to declare, in all honesty and candour, that Middle Distance Runner's Naturally is a really good song.

thank you for spreading the good word! we're working on that whole "getting popular" thing ... some of the things you mentioned like charting on radio would be really great, and things like this help ... so we appreciate the appreciation!
